Luddy, trained at the Institute Of Arts in Yogyakarta, is one of the most talented and paradoxical artists to emerge from the Indonesian art scene. His incredible virtuosity and buoyancy has attracted not only massive popular interest but a critical acclaim which has won him awards as a finalist at the prestigious Indofood Art Awards (2002, 2003), Kisi-Kisi Jakarta and the Pratisara Affandi Adhikarya Award.

Luddy, has become renowned for the imaginative power of his imagery and ability to portray everyday objects within an unusual and often surreal context. His creative humour and thought provoking images challenge the observer's preconditioned perceptions of reality and encourage the viewer to engage and become immersed in a world of fantasy.

By using familiar visual tools but bringing them together in such unreal ways, Luddy is able to create something that is not only unfamiliar and startling but exceptionally eye-catching. He often demonstrates role reversals or presents objects in an unreal relation to one another. By creating works that illustrate the idea that the world can indeed be irrational, yet coherent, he makes the viewer question the nature of accepted reality.

Luddy's use of smooth, fine brushstrokes, muted tones and soft outlines all work together to give his work a hazy dream-like appeal. Although, his works are light-hearted and humorous, they more often than not conceal a more serious underlying sentiment.
